The Puskarich Public Library System joins libraries in schools, campuses and communities nationwide in celebrating National Library Week, a time to highlight the value of libraries, librarians and library workers.
“Service to the community has always been the focus of the library,” said Sandi Thompson, Director of Puskarich Public Library System. “While this aspect has never changed, libraries have grown and evolved in how they provide for the needs of every member of their community.”
For the past 10 years, Dr. Scott Pendleton of the Harrison County Historical Society has conducted an annual Lantern Cemetery Tour. Each year the tour focuses on one of the county’s cemeteries featuring stories of notorious and interesting individuals that reside there, traveling back in time … bringing the past to life.
Puskarich Public Library System is announcing a new program, Guiding Ohio Online, which is funded through AmeriCorps, that is now available to all residents in Harrison County, free of charge. The Puskarich Public Library System now has a full-time AmeriCorps member offering assistance to its patrons. This member is available through the week at each of its three branches located in Cadiz, Scio and Freeport. While not being an employed staff of the library system, the volunteer is here to help and interact with members of the community.
